Radio Frequency Skin Tightening 

RF skin tightening uses high frequency radio waves of energy to selectively heat the sub-dermal connective tissues. The application of heat causes existing collagen to contract, giving an instant plumping and tightening effect, and denatures or breaks down the old collagen to stimulate re-growth of new fibres.

How Does it Work?

During the RF treatment three processes happen:

• Existing collagen tissues shrink giving an immediate tightening effect to the skin

• Old, fibrous collagen is broken down by the body

• Fibroblasts (the cells that create the new collagen) are stimulated and create fresh, new, supple collagen

 

The fresh collagen fibres are laid down over a 3-6 month period and last up to 2 years. Over time and with successive treatments at a 2 week intervals, new collagen fibres are formed resulting in a firmer, plumper, fresher and more youthful appearance.
